We adopted a 3 year old boxer named Dozer in November and after a week of living with him, we noticed that he was having very bad aggression issues with other dogs when we would take him on walks. With city living, walks are a must and we are almost guaranteed to meet other dogs while out walking. In spring 2011 Robert completed training for working with aggression in dogs with Dr. Nicholas Dodman, DVM, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Medicine and founder of the Cummings Animal Behavior Clinic at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Dodman is well known in the field of animal behavior and is often seen on Animal Planet's Dogs 101 as well as appearances on the Today Show and The Martha Stewart Show.
Subjects studied included causes of aggression, phobias, compulsive behaviors, medical causes of
aggression, psychopharmacology of behavior problems as well as treatments for aggression in dogs using training, modification, and pharmacology.Case presentations were used as a valuable hands-on experience.
